Sorbet Magazine

An international fashion and culture magazine, built in WordPress with Elementor and WooCommerce — an editorial site with articles, photoshoots and video, plus a store that sells subscriptions, print and digital issues, and back issues.

02The story

Context

Sorbet is an independent quarterly fashion, art and culture magazine, published in print and online. The site has to do two jobs. It is the magazine online: daily articles, long-form interviews, photoshoots and a large video library. It is also the shop: annual subscriptions, the current issues in print and digital, and a catalogue of print back issues going back to 2013.

Both halves are run by an editorial team, not by developers. Editors publish several stories a week, and whatever they add has to look like the magazine without anyone laying out a page by hand.

What I built

The editorial site, in Elementor. A homepage built from sections the team keeps up to date: a cover-story hero slider, a Latest carousel, a Play video feature with circular video links, a Featured grid, a Photoshoot block and a strip of past covers leading into a subscription call to action. Behind it, one template for each kind of page rather than one-off layouts: a category archive (Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle, Culture) with read-time and date on every card, a paginated latest-posts archive, a single-article template that handles both news posts and long interviews with inline captioned photos, a video archive that loads more as you scroll, and a dark single-video template with related videos below the player. A new post, category or video picks up the right layout the moment it is published.

The store, in WooCommerce. An issue shop with three kinds of product: an annual four-issue subscription, current issues sold as variable products (Digital, Print, or Digital plus Print, each with its own price), and print-only back issues in their own archive. It covers the whole purchase path, from catalogue to product page to cart with coupons to checkout, plus a My Account tab that stays on screen across the store, all styled to match the magazine so buying an issue doesn't feel like leaving it.

Why it's here

It is real, paid client work, live and published daily. It shows Elementor used as a system of reusable templates, not page by page, alongside a WooCommerce store that sells more than one simple kind of product. Most of the Elementor and WooCommerce work I do is like this: built so the client's own team can keep running it.
